Caleta Condor

Journey to Northern Patagonia

Lush nature dominated by larch trees, olivillos, myrtles, and the sacred cinnamon tree.

Mapu Lahual indigenous community. Life is better here for the grey fox, pudu, and puma. With a diverse marine fauna in a turquoise-colored beach, Caleta Condor is a little paradise.

The larger route usually has rewards, it is worth getting here. We travel from Santiago to the south through the Panamericana Route —Ruta 5— in a safe “classic”, comfortable Subaru Outback that will take us to Riachuelo in Los Lagos Region. Here we rest and prepare the trip for the next day.

We cross a rainforest from El Ojo to get into the bay of the Cholguaco River. We skirt the Northern stream bed to reach «Placido» area. Here we rest and evaluate the situation. We can take a boat or continue the path.

Finally, after a medium-high difficulty trekking of 13.18 km (8.19 mi), we reach the mouth of the Cholguaco River with a beautiful bay to enjoy trails, landscapes, birds, and peace. Welcome to Caleta Condor. Mapu Lahual territory.
