According to the Red List of the International Union for Conservation of Nature, more than 35,000 flora and fauna species are at risk of extinction, that is 28% total species assessed until today. Between the endangered species,14% are birds.
We go all over the ecosystems from the mountain range to the sea in order to know them.
This is a good chance to know one of the 438 bird species that can be found in Chile. Only 12 of these are endemic, around 72 have been registered as migratory —which travel between North and South America—, and 30 are moving through the seas and have pelagic habits.
We travel northbound just 33 kms (20,505 mi) from Santiago, and we get into the Fundó La Laguna Road located in Lampa, Batuco, where the wetland biodiversity is a lake that represents a learning space, and awareness about the Chilean fauna and flora. We can see here the Andean goose (native Chilean goose), the Black-Headed duck or the Black-Necked stilt, and hopefully the Many-colored Rush-tyrant. Differents types of aquatic vegetation, an archaeological site, and nature to understand.
An excellent opportunity to acclimatize and enjoy a mountain route. We make 4 selected stops for taking photos.
The experience begins in your hotel. The tour guide will drive to the East, toward the Andes, and will evetually take the G-21 route, which connects the city and the ski centres.
During the tour, you will visit La Paloma glacier at 3,000 masl (9,800 ft), the imposing Cerro El Plomo from a Valle Nevado viewpoint. We take some time to get recovered. Then, we go to the Mirador del Condor, and enjoy a good wine and cheese tasting.
